Unit 7 Terms Flashcards
1
Q
What is single transduction?
A
when molecule signals are converted from one form to another so that they can be transmitted from outside of a cell to the inside of a cell in order to bring a response.
2
Q
What are the 3 main steps to single transduction?
A
- Reception (aka when a ligand binds to the receptor, it results to the change of shape)
- Transduction (aka when the activated receptor triggers a change of bio chemical reactions in the cell, enzymes are involved, in other words a signal cascade)
- Response (aka the cascade results in a cellular response)
