Land cover changes
The study of how land is used and the impact of changing land use.
Farming Pollution
Air, Water, and Soil Pollution. Intensive forms of agriculture are responsible for the worst agricultural pollution. Can be caused by Chemical Fertilizers, Insecticides, Pesticides, and Herbicides.
Desertification
Alteration of the natural vegetation in arid areas causes fertile land to become infertile.
Salinization
Occurs when salts from water used by plants remain in the soil.
Conservation
Countering the damaging effects of destroying the natural landscape, and the various flora and fauna that inhabit it.
Terrace Farming
Where farmers build a series of steps into the side of a hill.
Irrigation
The process of applying controlled amounts of water to crops using dams, canals, pipes, sprinkler systems, or other manufactured devices rather than relying on just rainfall.
Aral Sea- Problems with irrigation
This sea was reduced to 10 percent of its former size, it was once the fourth-largest lake in the world. The water that remained was very saline.
Deforestation
The removal of large tracts of forest.
Slash-N-Burn Agriculture
Takes place when all vegetation in an area of the forest is cut down and burned in place.
Changing Diets
Especially in semiperiphery countries, the demand for certain foods change often during the development of that place.
Roles of women in agriculture
Traditionally, women helped men in the fields and in processing and storing the harvest. Also, women performed the task of selecting the best seeds to plant the following year.
