Define membership
feeling a sense of belonging to a group or society, also requires individual to invest a part of themselves within the group so they feel right to belong in group.

What is the definition of influence?
Individuals exerting impact on decisions made for the group as a whole.
What is culture?
standard or norms that a particular group or people have for the way they live (beliefs, values, rituals)
What is the difference between individualism and collectivism?
Individualism is when most individuals in a culture act to benefit themselves rather than collective
Collectivism is individuals acting to benefit the group as a whole.
What is the difference between multiculturalism and pluralism?
Multiculturalism is when individuals from many cultures coexist and live by one set of rules for all.
Pluralism is when two or more cultures coexist, each holding their own rules and traditions but both in same geographical location
What is a culture shock?
being placed in a new country that has a very different set of ideals or values from own, feeling overwhelmed from difference between.
What is assimilation?
adapting or fitting into a culture completely

acculturation gap is difference that can arise between level of assimilation of migrants compared to their children
