unit 4 - how to pass: colorimetry Flashcards
1
Q
What does colorimetry use?
A
The relationship between colour intensity of a solution and the concentration of the coloured species present.
2
Q
What can a colorimeter or r a spectrophotometer be used to measure?
A
The absorbance of light of a series of standard solutions. This data is then used to plot a calibration graph.
3
Q
What can the concentration of the solution being tested be determined from?
A
Its absorbance value and by comparing it to the calibration curve.
4
Q
Where must the concentration of the coloured species in the solution being tested lie in?
A
the straight-line section of the calibration graph to give an accurate value.
