What is responsibility?
Duty, the idea that we are in charge of our own actions
What is natural suffering?
Suffering caused by nature eg. Because of an earthquake
What is moral (or man made suffering)?
Suffering caused by the actions of humans eg war or crime
What four Ds cause suffering?
Disaster, disease, decay and death
What is intentional human action called that results in suffering?
Commission
What is inactive human action that causes suffering called?
Omission
What is free will?
Having the ability to choose or determine ones own actions
What is just?
Fail or right
What is unjust?
Unfair or not right
What is an impersonal force (nature or evil)?
The idea that evil is a power outside of people that draws them to evil
What is omnipotent?
All powerful
What is omniscient?
All knowing
What is omnibenevolent?
All loving
What is omnipresent?
Always present/ everywhere
What is the God of classical theism?
Theistic religions (ones that believe in God, all six except Buddhism) God is described as ring omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent and omnipresent.
What is the inconsistent triad?
An atheist argument that stars God can’t exist if evil and suffering do because the existence of suffering and evil means he cant be all knowing, all powerful, all loving or all present.
Why does suffering go against God being omnipotent?
He should be powerful enough to stop evil and suffering
Why does suffering go against God being omnibenevolent?
If he is all loving then why would he create and allow both evil and suffering to happen
