Can express belief, love and glory of God.
Enhances one’s faith - think deeper into stories that you are depicting.

Significance of icons
Done as a form of prayer and reflection.
Depict important individuals of the faith.
Significance of frescos
Done in churches to show the glory and greatness of God.
Done as a way of expressing faith in God to many.
Example: Michael Angelo’s Sistine Chapel

Uses of statues and sculpture
Used in churches for personal devotion of believers.
Used at home for families to use as a focal point of prayer or to be prayed with privately, e.g a nativity set.

Significance of statues
Sacred objects that can help someone be dedicated to God.
Used in prayer and meditation, helping people connect with God.
Catholics can show devotion to statues through kneeling, touching, lighting candles in front of them or praying before them.
Significance of sculptures
More visible depiction of certain people such as Christ/Mary/Saints.
Make nature of the piece feel more real and can connect with the person in the artwork.

How does music express belief?
Allows whole church community to express belief in God.
