Relationship: Police

A

The Courts- Giving evidence as prosecution witnesses, providing protection for vulnerable witnesses, hold defendants in cells, transporting defendants from and to court.

The CPS- providing evidence for prosecution of offenders, charging offenders in line with CPS instructions.

Relationship: Police 2

A

Prison and Probation- Police will arrest those recalled to prison for breaching the terms of probation. Also cooperate with P&P to manage the list of child sex offenders.
Voluntary org- referring victims and witnesses of crime to victim support, women’s refuge, the Witness service.

Relationship: CPS

A

Police- Advise on possible lines of enquiry and evidence collection to build a case; instruct on charging.
Courts- Preparing and presenting the prosecutions case against offender; preparing appeals against unduly lenient sentences.

Relationship: Government Departments

A

Courts, Prison Service, Probation- The Ministry of Justice is the department responsible for these justice agencies.
Police- The Home Office is responsible for it’s running, and set the National policing policies.
Also provide funding.

Relationship: HM Courts and Tribunals

A

Courts and Judges- Supervise the efficient running of the court system, and fund individual courts.
Prison Service- Hold Prisoners attending court, pending their transfer/return to prison. Arrange video recordings and live video for prisoners giving evidence from prison.

A

Prison Service & Parole Board- Supervise prisoners who are released on licence.
Courts- Prepare pre-sentencing reports on offenders; supervise offenders who have been given a community sentence; supervise drug testing under court orders.

Relationship: Prison Service

A

Courts- Carrying out custodial sentences that court has imposed on offenders. Supervising defendants who’ve been remanded into custody by court. Facilitating visits from defence lawyers to clients in prison.
Police- Facilitating interviews with prisoners involved in ongoing police investigations.
National Probation Service- Liaising with prisoner to be released from prison on licence.
