What is quality?
it is the standard of something of being delivered
What is Compliance?
cooperating with a set of rules/regulations/policies/procedures
What are the 6 main areas of quality of Health care?
safe – avoiding harm to patients
Effective – services that produce a clear benefit
Patient-centred – respecting a patient’s needs and preferences
Timely – reducing wait times
Efficient – avoiding waste
equitable (fair and impartial) – care that does not vary in quality because of a patient’s characteristics

What is the purpose of the care act 2014?
the care act is for everyone who needs help, the care act is for individuals to get help from the council for their care Needs such as housing, transport and information on local support groups
services include the NHS, independence advice , citizens advise bureau
Individuals in need can ask the Council for Carrying out assessments on you appear to look to be in need of help of care and support, this includes all people of ages such as children,adults.
carers (get the same rights for the person they care for) - if eligible you can have help and access to support also have the right to ask for an asssesment.
The Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)- HASAW
Training staff about health and safety,To have a safe working environment in the workplace.
such as employers Provide a safe place of work for their employees, visitors, members of the public
This covers the physical workplace to ensure that premises are up to standard.
duties of the employer to the employees-
Safe use, handling, transport and storage of substances and articles.
A safe working environment with access to adequate welfare facilities

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) standards (2012)
to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services.
NICE quality standards describe high-priority areas for quality improvement in a defined care or service area such as:
Promotion of independence and quality of life
Experience of people using adult social care services
Choice and control using adult social care services.
Role and purpose of the CQC.
monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and we publish what we find, including performance ratings to help people choose care
Inspecting services to make sure that the service is safe for staff to work in including the patients.
what is the purpose of Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)
support agency for the whole social care sector.
They work with adults, families and children’s care and a wide range of support services right across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
SCIE also works with the central Government and national stakeholders to improve the quality of care and support services by:
>Identifying, sharing and developing best practice information
>Widening the understanding and knowledge of the sector and encouraging improvement
>Supporting people who plan, commission, deliver and use services to put that knowledge into practice
>Informing, influencing and inspiring the direction of future practice and policy
What is Ofsted?
Ofsted’s role is to make sure that organisations providing education, training and care services in England do so to a high standard for children and students.
What is individual risk assessment is and why these need to be reviewed?
it is about identifying and taking sensible measures to control the risks, and remove hazards reporting it and keeping notes on the hazard if it has been removed or needs professionals to take care of it.
Risk assessment need to be reviewed regularly to protect the individuals from certain harm
What is a Support plan and a review
Having a detailed plan in place for the person who is in need of care, such as what care services they will need and receive. reviewing a care plan is to see what progress the plan has impacted the individual in need if their is any improvement o
what is a staff induction?
induction is the process for welcoming newly recruited employees and supporting them to adjust to their new roles.
what makes a good staff induction?
- Effective communication
- feeling valued and respected
- a ‘buddy’ system to offer support and encouragement
- environment welcoming- equipment ready for you
- introduction in the team
- checklist for consisted induction
What is Appraisal?
Sit down 1 to 1 with the manager of what you are doing well on the job and what improvements you could do
