Definition of death
The end of life, usually considered when the brain stops functioning
Heaven
The state of being with god, utopia
Hell
A place with no God or with evil after death
Purgatory
A place of spiritual cleansing and prepares the soul for heaven
Reincarnation
Rebirth after death into another form
Ageism
Prejudice and discrimination against the elderly
Euthanasia
A painless death by agreement to ease suffering
Life support machine
A machine that keeps a person alive and without it they would die
Mourning
A period of time where the signs of grief are show
Hospice
A place for people to die with dignity
What do Jews get taught about life after death
For a small minority, when they die they go straight into heaven, most however have to wait for around a year to learn from their mistakes and have their life reviewed
What do sikhs buddihists and Hindus believe about life after death
They believe in rebirth and you next form is dependant on your karma, how good you were in your previous life. For buddhists, this is called samsara and for sikhs and Hindus, this is reincarnation
What do Hindus believe about reincarnation
Your soul leaves your body after death and enters a new one. They cycle can be broken and this is called moksha
What do buddihists believe about samsara
They don’t believe in a soul but that life is a force fashioned by karma and is reborn at a different level of life
Problems for elderly
More likely to have serious illness
May feel worthless as media portrays them badly
Loneliness if their partner dies or their family moves away
Life becomes harder as moving around is even harder
