Q

Describe the ATP-ADP cycle. Include what is and is not recycled, and the role of ATP synthase.

A

The ATP-ADP cycle is when a phosphate group from ATP is removed to make it an ADP and vice versa. What is recycled is the ADP but what doesn’t get recycled is the one phosphate that was removed because it now goes into a new cell. The role of ATP is that when it gets broken down it releases energy for the cell to use.

Q

Explain what the energy is used for when a phosphate is removed, and where that energy initially comes from.

A

When a phosphate is removed it releases energy for the cell to use and the energy initially comes from your food.

Q

Summarize why the overall process of breaking down ATP is considered an exothermic process, while the overall process of forming ATP is considered an endothermic process.

A

The overall process of breaking down ATP is considered exothermic is because more energy is being given off the required so it makes it exothermic. The overall process of making ADP is because energy is being taken in which makes it endothermic.
