- Using effective communication skills e.g. active listening
- Not making assumptions

- Providing person-centred care
- Individuals feelings valued and supported

What does effective communication include?

What is stereotyping?
Assuming people with certain characteristics are the same.
What is labelling?
To identify people negatively as part of a particular group and so jumping to conclusions about them.
What is prejudice?
Negative attitude towards an individual/group based on ill-informed opinions or inaccurate information.
What is patronising?
Speaking towards someone as if they are stupid or not important.
What does raising concerns involve?
- Reporting incident to management
- Reporting incident to relevant authorities - final stage after all internal steps taken
What is whistleblowing?
When someone exposes dangerous or illegal activity that may put other people at harm.
