Socialization

-the influence of the media over how events and issues are interpreted
Pluralism
-the theory that all interests are and should be free to compete for influence in the government
-the outcome of this competition is compromise and moderation
Lobbying
-an attempt by a group to influence the policy process through persuasion of government officials

Going Public
-the effort to influence public opinion for or against some proposed action by the government
Grassroots Lobbying
-a lobbying campaign in which a group mobilizes its membership to contact government officials in support of the groups position
