Fertilisation
is the combining of a sperm and an egg (ova). It marks the beginning of pregnancy. It’s also known as conception.

when they turn two they have developed their motor skills and can walk, use simple words, identify people they are familiar with, play social games and throw tantrums

early childhood
starts from 2-6 years old
slow and steady growth
accomplish new skills (social) e.g. make friends, toilet trained and eat with adults
late childhood
6-12 years old
slow and steady growth
many physical, social, emotional and intellectual changes that occur influenced by primary schooling
what do milestones of late childhood include?
refining reading and writing skills, developing long-term memory, understanding gender stereotypes and refining motor skills
youth
from 12-18 years
rapid growth
gain an increased independence and sexual maturity and therefore the ability to reproduce
undergo significant social, emotional and intellectual changes as they become accustomed to greater independence, more complex relationships and the development of life goals
early adulthood
18-40 years
the body reaches its peak physically around 25-30 followed by a steady decline in body systems thereafter
periods of maintenance and repair as opposed to the periods of growth experienced in the entire lifespan stage
middle adulthood
40-65 years
financial security, physical signs of ageing and for women they experience menopause
enjoy being grandparent and maybe loneliness due to children leaving home
late adulthood
65-death
changes in lifestyle - retirement and financial security
some endure grief and loss- death of friends and partners
living arrangements may change
