Unit 1 exp Design LLC Flashcards
Testable Question
A question that can be answered through hands-on investigation and scientific experimentation.
Non-testable question
A question that cannot be answered through scientific investigation or experimentation.
Quantitative
Anything that can be measured and expressed numerically, such as data involving numbers, amounts, or quantities.
Qualitative
Descriptions or distinctions based on some quality or characteristic.
Observation
The act of carefully watching, listening, or noticing something in order to gather information or data.
Trails
A sequence of observations, experiments, or steps taken during an investigation to track the progression and outcomes of a study.
Empirical evidence
Information acquired by observation or experimentation that is used to support or refute a hypothesis or theory.
Data
Facts, statistics, or pieces of information collected through observation, measurement, or research.
Model is science
A simplified representation of a system or phenomenon that is used to explain, predict, or understand real-world processes.
Analogy
A comparison between two things that are alike in some way, often used to help explain something or make it easier to understand.
Prototype
An early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process.
Hypothesis
An explanation for a phenomenon, based on limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.
Variable
Any factor, trait, or condition that can exist in differing amounts or types.
Procedure
A series of steps or actions conducted in a certain order or manner to achieve a specific result.
Precision
The consistency and repeatability of measurements or results.
Infer
To draw a conclusion based on evidence and reasoning.
Independent variable
A variable that is deliberately changed or manipulated in an experiment to observe its effect on the dependent variable.
Dependent variable
