What Army Regulation covers Uniform Wear and Appearance?

Describe the male haircut.
The hair on the top of the head must be neatly groomed. The length and bulk of hair must not be excessive and must present a neat and conservative appearance. The hair on the sides of the head must present a tapered appearance. When the hair is combed, is must not fall over the ears, eyebrows or touch the collar. Males are not authorized to wear braids, cornrows, twists, dreadlocks or locks. Haircuts with a single untapered patch of hair on the top of the head are not authorized.
Describe “short length” hair for females.
Short hair is defined as hair length that extends no more than 1 inch from the scalp.
Describe “medium length” hair for females.
Medium hair is defined as hair length that does not extend beyond the lower edge of the collar (in all uniforms), and extends more than 1 inch from the scalp. Medium hair may fall naturally in uniform, and is not
required to be secured.
Describe “long length” hair for females.
Long hair is defined as hair length that extends beyond the lower edge of the collar.
Describe the updated regulations for ponytails in the Army Combat Uniform.
o Hair will be neatly and inconspicuously fastened or secured in either a bun, single ponytail, two braids or a single braid.
o Multiple locs, braids, twists or cornrows may come together in one or two braids or a single ponytail.
o Braids and singular ponytails may be worn down the center of the back in all uniforms, but length will not extend past the bottom of the shoulder blades while at the position of attention. There is no minimum length for the wear of a ponytail or braid.
Describe the limitations of the Army’s tattoo policy.
Tattoos cannot be extremist, indecent, sexist or racist in nature. Tattoos are prohibited on the head, face (except for permanent makeup, neck, below the wristbones and hands. Soldiers may have one ring tattoo on each hand.
Describe the updated regulation for ear jewelry in the Army Combat Uniform for females.
Earrings can either be screw-on, clip-on, or post-type earrings in gold, silver, or diamond and must be unadorned and spherical without exceeding 6 mm or 1/4 inch in diameter.

How is the beret properly worn?
The beret is worn so that the headband (edge binding) is straight across the forehead, 1inch above the eyebrows. The flash is positioned over the left eye, and the excess material is draped over to the right ear, extending to at least the top of the ear, and no lower than the middle of the ear.
