What is Nonjudicial Punishment used for? (3-2)
o Correct, educate and reform offenders of the UCMJ
o Preserve a Soldier’s record of service from unnecessary stigma by record of court-martial conviction
o Further military efficiency by disposing of minor offenses in a manner requiring less time and personnel than trial by court-martial
Note: The third bullet can be referred to “solving the problem at the lowest level.” The Army is a big advocate for leaders pushing to solve issues at the lowest level in order to promote efficiency within the formation.

Article 15.

No. He or she has the right to demand a trial by court-martial.
