U2 effectiveness of international organisations at resolving underdevelopment Flashcards
WHO effective because they aid those suffering from poor health
WHO has recently been fighting polio in the Democratic Republic of Congo, having vaccinated over 3 million people
WHO ineffective because they are reliant on funding from governments
WHO heavily relies on government funding like from the US government who recently donated £893 milli fr
OXFAM effective because they have had success in aiding those affected by underdevelopment
OXFAM has installed water pumps in Syra to ensure that the victims of the civil war have access to water no matter what side they are on
OXFAM ineffective because they can’t address the root causes of civil war
In South Sudan the civil war has caused 4 million to flee and 6.3 mill to struggle to find food.
This shows that major causes of udnerdevelopment need to be eliminated first instead of being responded to, these root causes also go onto cause smaller issuesl like hunger so if NGOs were able to fix root causes many other problems would also be solved
World Food Programme effective because fighting hunger
in 2022 WFP assisted 160 million people to break their cycle of hunger and poverty
World Food Programme ineffective because of their limited success
Number of people suffering from hunger in 2030 is expected to reach 840 million people, so WFP clearly has not resolved the issue of hunger
