What are the 6 types of synovial joints?
Saddle, Gliding, Ellipsoid, Pivot, Ball and socket, Hinge.
Describe the movement of the saddle joint and where it can be found?
Allows movement back and forth as well as side to side.
carpometacarpal (thumb)
Adduction, abduction, flexion and extension.
Describe the movement of the gliding joint and where it can be found?
Allows two bones to slide past each other.
Shoulder girdle, mid-carpal and mid tarsal of wrist and ankle..
Elevation and depression
Describe the movement of the Ellipsoid joint and where it can be found?
Allows movement in any direction but at a lesser magnitude.
Joints between the hand and fingers.
Flexion, extension, abduction and circumduction

Allows rotation around an axis.

Allows movement in any direction.
