Types of Necrosis Flashcards
1
Q
Coagulative necrosis
A
Hypoxic environments - infarction, ischemia
Architecture of tissue maintained
Kidney, adrenal, heart
2
Q
Liquefactive necrosis
A
Hypoxic infarcts in the brain due to the high conc of digestive enzymes => digestion by own enzymes
Digestion of dead cells => viscous liquid mass
3
Q
Gangrenous necrosis
A
Ischemia of lower limb, GI => dry gangrene
If superimposed by bacterial infection => wet gangrene
4
Q
Caseous necrosis
A
Combination of coagulative and liquefactive caused by mycobacteria, fungi
TB => caseating
5
Q
Fat necrosis
A
Activated lipases on fatty tissues => acute pancreatitis
6
Q
Fibrinoid necrosis
A
Immune mediated vascular damage => AB-AG-fibrin within arterial walls
