Q
Definitions of
-vasculogenesis
-angiogenesis
-arteriogenesis
When do these processes mainly happen
A

Vasculogenesis - new vessels from progenitors

  • in embryogenesis
  • mesoderm forms => blood islands form and fuse and differentiate, forming new vessels

Angiogenesis - new capillaries from existing ones

  • hypoxia
  • cells migrate towards VEGF and develop

Arteriogenesis - new arteries from existing ones
-fluid shear stress
