Cardiac Anatomy ☺️ Flashcards
Anterior structure
Most anterior structures - RV, RVOT, pulmonary artery
Right auricle, RA
RCA - right AV groove
LV and LAD slightly visible
Lateral structures
LAD - A IV septum
LCx - L AV groove => post IV groove
LA, L auricle, LV
LA appendage - site of thrombi in AF
Posterior structures
2 L pulmonary veins - sup, inf
3 R pulmonary veins - sup, mid, inf
LAD
- divisions
- branches
LAD - proximal, middle, distal
-split by 1st, 2nd diagonal branch
RCA
- divisions
- branches
RCA - proximal, mid R artery segment (once past RAV groove), distal
- conus branch => pulmonary artery, RV OT
- distal => PDA at IV groove
LCx
- where does it arise from
- branches and divisions
From L mainstem => LAD and LCx
Passes down LAV groove => anterolateral inferior supply
LCx - proximal, mid, distal
-2 obtuse marginal branches
What is coronary dominance?
RCA and LCx can both supply the PDA
R coronary dominance RCA => PDA
L coronary dominance LCx => PDA
Views of the chambers
4 chambers
2 chambers - both structures on same side
Short axis - both ventricles
Valves
- position
- no of leaflets
- structure
Aortic - R, L, non coronary cusp
- most central vessel
- 3 sinuses of Valsalva
- R, L coronary ostium
Pulmonary
-most anterior
Mitral - ant, post
- leftmost
- surrounded by annulus
- attached to chordae tendinae via lateral and medial papillary muscles
- saddle shaped
Tricuspid - ant, post, septal
-rightmost
Coronary veins
Front => greater cardiac vein
Anterolateral => left marginal vein
Inf => middle cardiac vein
All rejoin RA via coronary sinus
