E.g. the biceps shorten to cause flexion at the elbow

Where the muscle lengthens under tension, acting as a break to control movement
E.g. landing from a jump- quadriceps lengthen under tension

A
Muscle contracts without shortening or lengthening, so no movement occurs. It happens when acting against a resistance or as a fixator
