Use tape drives with magnetic tape.
Used in rotation ‘Grandfather’ ‘Father’ ‘Son’
Banks back Up frequently, copies made every time something is altered.
Should have disaster recovery to recover data e.g hard disk fails.
What is an archive?
Copy of data stored separately from permanent safekeeping. Used when data is not in use & reference purposes e.g. tax inspection.
What are the differences between Backups & Hard drives?
Back ups made frequently, Hard Drives arnt.
Back Ups not useful for reference/research archives can be used for reference/research.
What are the features of file Security?
Paper docs hard to copy/steal as bulky, likely to be noticed. Electronic copies are small,quickly/easily copied, possible to copy without being noticed.
What are the features of Security of Personal Info?
Authorised User- allowed to read, use or have access to computer files/data. Unauthorised User Can’t do this!
Companies have to keep personal info of employees & customers data private.
What are the features of Misuse of Data?
Gossiping about friends/customers.
Selling contact details to advertisers.
Using other peoples personal data to obtain money/goods (fraud) Chip & Pin has reduced fraud.
What is Identity Theft?
When someone uses another persons details to pretend to be them, they can buy things and the other person gets the bill.
