Type IA: quinidine Flashcards

1
Q

Q

What are some non-cardiac side effects of quinidine?

A

diarrhea

cinchonism: headache, dizziness tinnituse (improves with dose reduction)

Q

How would qunidine impact the atrial rate and conduction?

A

slows conduction velocity in the atrium but b/c it has anticholinergic effects ventricular rate would speed up, and AV nodal conduction velocity

pretreat with digoxin with blocks AV node to manage this
