Tuning Fork Flashcards
1
Q
What does the tuning fork tell us?
A
It tells us the type of loss but not the degree of loss. It is limited to one frequency which is 512Hz
2
Q
Rinne test results
A
- louder at the front(positive) = either normal hearing or SN loss in both ears
- louder at the back(negative) = conductive loss in both ears
- false rinne negative = cross hearing so masking is needed (tragal rubbing)
3
Q
Weber test results
A
- central = normal hearing both ears or SN loss in both ears or conductive/mixed loss in both ears.
- heard in better ear = unilateral or asymmetrical sensorineural loss
- heard in worse ear = unilateral or asymmetrical conductive loss
