Decibels And Audiograms Flashcards

Q

What is audiometric 0 and RETSPL

A

Reference equivalent threshold sound pressure level.
When converting dBSPL to dBHL will flatten the audio gram to make it more readable. The audiometric 0 is therefore not actually 0 as it has been converted to dBHL - for each frequency there is differing amounts of sound pressure. 1000hz is 7 dBSPL, so 0dBHL is the average threshold of human hearing at that frequency.

Q

What’s is the logarithmic equation

A

DBSPL = 20 x log of amount of pressure over reference pressure which is 20 micropascals
