What is cross hearing?

Although we play sound to one ear at a time - it is not always the intended ear that detects the sound. It’s possible when testing the worse ear that the better ear picks up this signal.

In bc testing, the bc unit will always stimulate the better cochlea. Cross hearing can happen at bc because the sound travels better through solid and both cochlea’s pick up the sound the same.

When the test ear is picking up the masking sound.

Everything is done correctly but the brain cannot differentiate the difference between the masking noise and the tones presented.
