Tumors Flashcards
Glioblastoma (IV) genetic mutations?
- CDKN2A deletion
- Amplification of EGFR or PDGFR
- TP53
Primary GBM, who is it seen in and what are mutations?
- Older patient with no precurosr lesion
- IDH wild type
- gains in chromosome 7 loss in chromoosome 10 TERT and EGFR
Prognosis of glioblastoma IDH mutant?
- IDH mutatnts are aggressive but have a better prognosis with avg survival of 2-3 yrs
Secondary GBM who is it seen in, mutations, and prognosis?
- Younger patients with a preceeding lower grade lesion (TP53)
- idh1 (better prognosis than wild type)
What varient of medulloblastoma (IV) is described with large irregular vesicular nuclei, priminent nucleoli with “cell wrapping”, and a high mitotic/apoptotic rate?
Large cell/Anaplastic
Histology and gross appearance of Medulloblastoma?
- Densely cellular
- Sheets of anaplastic cells
- Abundant mitoses
Gross:
- well circumscribed
- gray friable
- may involve leptomeninges
Which can be dissected off, schwannoma or neurofibroma?
Schwannoma it sits on the nerve and neurofibroma is intergrated in the nerve
What mutation is with Schwannoma? What stain?
- NF2, loss of Merlin
- Sporadic associated with NF2 on CHR 22
- stains with S100
Where are schwannomas located
Cerebellar pontine angle
What are the problems seen with acoustic neuromas?
- CN VIII, tinnitus and hearing loss
What is described as eosinophilic spindle cells arranged in intersecting fascicles?
Antoni A (Dense)
What are Verocay bodies?
- Palisading nuclei around nuclear free zones
- seen in schwannomas
What is Antoni B (loose)?
Hypocellular myxoid ECM in a microcyst formation
Seen in Schwannomas
