Tumor: Chondroid Lesions Flashcards
Describe XR appearance enchondroma
Where find enchondromas
Ca in bone
Metaphysis long bones
Hands / feet - reason for pathologic frx
What is Ollier disease
Multiple enchondromas - slightly higher chance malig trans to chondrosarc
Will usually give you hand XR
What is Mafucci disease
Enchondromas + hemangiomas
Higher risk than Ollier for trans to chondrosarc / angiosarc
Describe appearance of osteochondroma
Confluence w/ IM canal
Sessile vs pedunculated (cart cap <2cm)
Disease associated with osteochondromas
MHE
AD
EXT 1/2/3 - tumor suppressor gene
Higher risk malig trans osteochondroma -> chondrosarc
What is the difference between an MHE chondrosarc vs others
Usually lower grade - can resect only
Chondrosarcoma
- Additional imaging
- Staging studies
- Trt
Img: MRI entire bone, grows up/down the canal
Stage: chest
Trt: wide excision only - grows too slow to be effected by rads/chemo
Kid
Tibial shark bite
Trt
Chondromyxoid fibroma
@metaphysis
Benign but aggressive: currett +/- ORIF
Lytic epiphyseal lesion kid, painful
Chondroblastoma
Chondroblastoma

2. MR findings
3. Histo
4. Trt
KIDS
XR: lytic lesion epiphysis
MR: edema
Histo: chondroblasts with Ca ring (chicken wire)
Trt: currett BG v cement +/- ORIF
