TTC Flashcards
What is TTC priority one and how will it be dispatched?
TN 303.1
Priority one is person in contact with train. Will be dispatched as Rescue Response - Person possibly under train
TFS is first to arrive on scene of person in contact with train call
TN 303.1
proceed immediately to the closest Emergency Alarm Station (indicated by a Blue light) and call Transit Control 3555 to request the power be shut off to 3rd rail
Safety considerations train contact with person - track level.
TN 303.1
> The prime area of concern is the 3rd rail power - the rail should always be consider ‘live’ while working at track level.
Collector shoes, located on both sides of the subway car, are supplied power through the 3rd rail. These are to be treat as ‘live’ and contact avoided if at all possible
Running rails, crossover, drainage ditches, and paper catchers are trip hazards to be aware of while working at track level.
Switches are activated electrically and may be activated remotely while personnel are at track level. Care must be taken while maneuvering around them, Switches cannot be pried apart once activated and must be changed by a manual control or through Transit Control.
Bio-hazards - all care and attention for personal protection must be taken when contact with body fluids is imminent. There is little space to work within when operating at track level and underneath a subway train. Be sure to wear all TFS provided personal protective equipment when responding to all TTC related incidents.
Where are “Police Use Only” located?
TN 303.1
All outgoing end of each platform there is a large grey wooden box labeled “police use only” - Body Recovery Box
Two types of TTC Emergency Trip (power Cuts)
TN 303.2
A) To operate the first type, pull down the cover plate, then push down the exposed switch to the stop and release.
B) The second type requires that a large red button be pressed and held for one (1) second.
In both cases, the power is immediately cut on both tracks and in both directions. Power to any adjacent storage tracks is also cut. The alarm is both seen and heard in Power Control.
Before you go to track level, confirm with Transit Control that all trains have stopped.
Confirm “Power Off” by calling the Transit Control Centre at 3555, by using the PAX phone located at every EAS
Before going to track level, note the PAX number of the EAS that you have used so that you can call back to that phone, to speak with other crews
