1 S PARK ST MEDICAL CENTER RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
287-2050
CT scans take a fast series of X-ray pictures, which are put together to create images of the area that was scanned. An MRI uses strong magnetic fields to take pictures of the inside of the body. CT scans (also known as CAT scans or computed axial tomography scans) are advanced x-ray procedures.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
(608) 287-2050
MRI detailed image scan can show organs, bones, muscles and blood vessels
X-Ray=radiology
Radiology: (X-ray is located on 3rd floor of the North Building)
Echo (Echocardiogram):
608-263-9014
“Type of ultrasound test that uses high-pitched sound waves that are sent
through a device called a transducer. The devise picks up echoes of the sound waves as they bounce off the different parts of your heart.”
EBUS
(endobronichial ultrasound): “Using an ultrasound scope, physicians can examine lymph
nodes in the middle of the chest in a much less invasive way.
PACS (Picture Archive Communication Systems):
A way for clinical facilities to share images (CTs, MRIs, X-rays) electronically, so patients do not need to bring in flat films or bring in a CD with the images on them.

Pretty much any test:
Stress test (exercise test)
PFTs (breathing test)
Echo (heart ultrasound)
Labs
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
CT (X-ray image/Computed tomography angiography)
Done it out of Work Station Orders though
Prior Authorizations
In Chart Review area->CHECK TABS: Images/imaging, referrals
These should not be scheduled already. We should be faxing the orders and the approval to the facility once we have received notice that it has been approved
PA Questionaire WEBSITE:
https://uconnect.wisc.edu/webforms/view.php?id=106879
A decision by your health insurer or plan that a health care service, treatment plan, prescription drug or durable medical equipment is medically necessary. Sometimes called prior authorization, prior approval or precertification….examples:
MRA (magnetic resonance angiography)
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
CT/CTA (X-ray image/Computed tomography angiography)
Stress test (exercise test)
Echo (heart ultrasound)
Referral (In Chart->Referrals)
A written order from your primary care doctor for you to see a specialist or get certain medical services. In many Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), you need to get a referral before you can get medical care from anyone except your primary care doctor. If you don’t get a referral first, the plan may not pay for the services.
pulmonary rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a supervised medical program that helps people who have lung diseases live and breathe better
