A
Trigonometric identities allow us to simplify a given expression so that it contains sine and cosine ratios only. This enables us to solve equations and also prove other identities.

what does reducing an expression mean
A
When reducing trig identities, it means we simplify. We do this by writing the expression in terms of sine and cosine only, using the square and quotient identities.
