Clinical diagnosis of BV requires 3 of the following 4 criteria:

  1. Presence of thin, white vaginal discharge
  2. “Clue cells” on microscopy
  3. Vaginal fluid pH > 4.5
  4. Positive “whiff test” - fishy odor of vaginal discharge

A

Flagyl 500mg PO BID x 7 days
Flagyl 0.75% gel - 5g applicator intravaginally QD x 5 days
Clindamycin 2% cream - 5g applicator intravaginally QHS x 7 days
