Anemia of CKD Flashcards

1
Q

Hemoglobin (Hgb)

A
  • Oxygen carrying molecule
  • measured in grams/volume of blood
  • Normal ranges: Men =13-17.5g/dL; Women = 12-16g/dL

Q

Hematocrit (Hct)

Q

Normocytic anemia

A
  • Normal RBCs = normal MCV (80-100)
  • Causes: chronic diseases (CKD)
  • They’re not deficient in anything they’re just not making enough RBCs
