3 months from when the incident happened
How is the claim dealt with by the tribunal?
They listen to both sides then if early conciliation doesn’t work a hearing takes place by phone, video or in person. Decision sent by post but can be told in hearing. Published on GOV.UK
What is early conciliation?
Before making a claim the citizen must tell the advisory, conciliation and arbitration service ( ACAS ). They will offer a free early conciliation service to stop it going to court. Blind rejected claimant gets a early conciliation certificate and has around 1 month to make their claim.
What happens in the hearing?
Citizen present their case or a lawyer, friend/ family can.
Responding presents their case
Unless unfair dismissal claimant gives evidence/witness first.
Citizen gets asked questions by judge, the respondent and 2 other tribunal members - certain cases.
