Triangle Theorems Flashcards
What is the Triangle Sum Theorem?
The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180º
What is the Triangle Exterior Angle Theorem?
An exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles.
Describe the midsegment of a triangle.
If a segment joins the midpoints of two sides of a triangle, then the segment is parallel to the third side and is half as long.
What is the relationship between a base and a midsegment?
The base is twice the length of the midsegment parallel to the base.
What is a median of a triangle?
A median is a segment from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side.
What is the centroid of a triangle?
The point where medians cross is the CENTROID of the triangle
Where is the centroid along the median?
The centroid point is 2/3 the distance along a median from the vertex,
1/3 the distance from the base.
What is the altitude of a triangle?
Altitude is the perpendicular segment from a side to the vertex opposite.
What is the Triangle Inequality Theorem?
The given two sides of a triangle, the third side lenght must be in the range of more than the difference and less than the sum of the other two sides lengths.
