Treatment Flashcards
1
Q
Treatment goals
A
- prevent mortality + morbidity by qSOFA + intervention
- early implementation therapies - fluid resuscitation + antimicobials
- reduce/ eliminate organ dysfunction
- elminiate source of infection
- avoid adverse reactions to treatment
- provide cost-effective therapy
2
Q
General approach to treatment
A
- recognition sepsis + early implementation therapy
- fluid therapy = restore intravascular volume depletion
- early adm broad spec antimicrobial
- inotropic therapy = maintain haemodynamic stability - not improved with fluid
- IV hydrocortisone - haemodynamically unstable - despite fluid + inotropic
- glucose control via infucsion regular insulin
- adjunctive therapy
- blood products
- sedation
- analgesia
- NMB
- RRT
- DVT prophylaxis
- stress ulcer prohylaxis
- nutrition
3
Q
Focus of treatment
A
- infection
- inflammation
- hypoperfusion
- wide spread tissue injury
