Port Qasim is located 20 kilometers southeast of Karachi. It is Pakistan’s second deep seaport and was built in 1980. It is mostly used to import raw material for Pakistan Steel and offers transport and other infrastructure facilities for industrial development. Industries located there include paper and board, chemicals, cotton textiles, and assembly industries. Major categories of cargo handled at port Qasim includes iron ore, coal, grain, furnace oil, edible oil, rice, LPG containers, jute, and fertilizers.
