What is meant by valley?
The beautiful and charming scenes presenting areas inside the mountains and along with the rivers are called valleys. The important valleys of Pakistan are Kaghan, Swat, Leepa, Chitral, Hunza, Ayubia, Nathia Gali and Ziarat.
Define Mountain.
The Mountain is a highland. It is usually more than 900 meters above sea level. It has a broad base, steep slope, and a narrow top. The mountain ranges of Pakistan are: Northern mountains range, North Western mountains ranges, Western Mountain ranges, Central Mountain ranges.

- Expensive wood is also acquired from these mountains.
Describe the location of Pakistan.
Pakistan is located between 23° 1/2 to 37° North latitude and 61° to 77° East longitude. It is surrounded by various countries:
India in the East, China in the North, Iran and Afghanistan in the West, and the Arabian Sea in the South.

What do you know about the Salt Range?
in the south of Potwar Plateau and between rivers Jhelum and Indus is the Salt Range. The average height of the range is 700 meters. Sakesar, 1500 meters high, is the beautiful place in this range. Kallar Kahar Lake is also situated in this region.
What do you know about the Potwar Plateau?
Potwar plateau is located in the north of Salt Range and between rivers Indus and Jhelum It is located in South of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The Soan Basin is located between the Potwar plateaus. Its maximum height is upto 600 meters. There are extensive reserves of limestone, coal, Gypsum and mineral oil in this area. This area is comprising of hills and mountains that have uneven and irregular landform.

A plateau is a surface of the earth which consist of ridges and troughs, badins and dissected plains,varying in height at different places from 300 meters to 900 meters . Important plateaus in Pakistan include Potwar Plateau and Baluchistan Plateau.
Define plain.
A vast and leveled part of land having a gentle slope is called a plain, or
the part of the Earth which has a fertile surface and its height is 300 meters which gradually decreases towards the sea level is called plain area
What is meant by Indus plains?
The vast plains of Pakistan extend from the Himalayan foothills to the Arabian Sea, consisting of fertile soil deposited by the River Indus and its five tributaries (Chenab, Jhelum, Bias, Sutlej, and Ravi) is called indus plain. river indus is 2900 km long.
it is the most prosperous agricultural region in Pakistan it is also called Grain basket of Pakistan.

What is upper Indus plain?
The plain area of Pakistan which is irrigated by the five tributaries of river Indus i.e. Bias, Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum is called upper Indus plain. That is why this part is called Punjab meaning five waters or land of five rivers. It is also known as province of Punjab.
What is lower Indus plain?
Such plain area of Pakistan which is irrigated by the river Indus only is called Lower Indus plain. Below Mithnkot, the Indus River flows like a major river and falls into the Arabian Sea. It is irrigated by River Indus only. This is also a fertile land but rainfall is quite low. It is also known as province of Sindh.
What is meant by bar?
The part of fertile land along the river is called bar, suitable for agriculture, such as Nili bar, Sandal bar, Kirana bar.
What is meant by Inter-fluve or Doab? Write down the names of important doabs of Pakistan.
The fertile land between two rivers is called Doab or inter-fluve. Important doabs include Bari Doab, Chej Doab, Rachna Doab, and Sindh Sagar Doab.
