Transport Cards Flashcards
Diffusion
Small, nonpolar molecules moving from high to low concentration across a membrane.
Facilitated Diffusion
The use of transport proteins to move larger or polar molecules across the membrane
Osmosis
The movement of water from low concentration of solvent to high across the membrane
Active transport
The use of a movement protein and energy fro ATP to move large molecules in or out of the cell regardless of concentration
Endocytosis
The surrounding of a large molecule or large group of molecules with a phospholipid bi-layer in order to move it into the cell
Exocytosis
The surrounding of a large molecule or large group of molecules with a phospholipid bi-layer in order to move it out of the cell
