2.5 Cards Flashcards
1
Q
What is the difference between cohesion and adhesion?
A
Cohesion is when something exhibits attraction towards more pieces or parts of itself. Adhesion is when something exhibit attraction to pieces of other materials.
2
Q
What is specific heat?
A
Specific heat is how much energy is needed to raise one gram of material by one degree Celsius.
3
Q
How does water’s Hydrogen bonding cause Cohesion?
A
Because individual water molecules are attracted to one another, it takes force to move them apart from each other.
4
Q
How does water’s Hydrogen bonding cause High Specific Heat?
A
The bonds make it harder for water molecules to escape into a gaseous form.
