7.1 Cards Flashcards
1
Q
What is the order of the cell cycle stages?
A
G1, S, G2, M
2
Q
Name stimulating proteins
A
Cyclin, Growth Factors, and CDK’s
3
Q
Name inhibiting proteins
A
p53’s, ATM, and MAD
4
Q
Whats the difference between an oncogene and a proto-oncogene?
A
An proto-oncogene is a gene that codes for a stimulating protein. A oncogene is the mutated form of that proto- oncogene that causes too much stimulation within the cell cycle.
5
Q
How does a mutated inhibitor cause cancer?
A
Without the inhibitor proteins, the cell cycle allows cells with damaged DNA and structures to replicate without ceasing.
