Transplantation Flashcards
Hyperacute Rejection
From preexisting Abs against donor tissue, causes irreversible rejection within minutes
Cross Match Test
Test serum of recipient w/ WBCs from donor to see immune difference (preferably w/ Bs and Ts separated to see MHC I or II). Also add complement
Acute Rejection
Tcs to HLA and shit, occurs 100% of time without identical twins. Occurs several weeks after transplant and controlled w/ immunosuppression
Mixed Lymphocyte Reaction
Add donor lymphocytes in blood (inactivated) w/ active recipient lymphocytes in blood and see if the latter replicate for a direct response to donor shit
3 Tests for Immune Difference
Cross Match Test
Mixed Lymphocyte Rxn
Genotypic Analysis
Direct vs. Indirect Allorecognition in Rejection
Direct is from donor APC leaving tissue and going to LN
Indirect is from host APC taking up Ag and then presenting
2 Global Suppressors
Cytotoxic drugs like cyclophosphade which akylylates DNA to kill activately reproducing cells
Steroids which shut down an assload of functions
