Q

Type II Hypersensitivity

A

IgGs towards cell surface/matrix associated Ags can cause NK/phagocytic/complement response or inappropriate antibody response, like penicillin allergy

Q

FcgammaRs (3)

A

Recognize IgGs
On phagocytic cells and NK cells
Low affinity, so need a lot (like ICs)

Q

IgA Production/Transport/Function

A

Local plasmas produce, dimerizes w/ J chain connection
Poly-Ig R binds, endocytoses into endothelial cells, and protects from proteolysis as it moves it through to lumenal side
“Secretory piece” remains bound and attaches IgA to mucous to create wall that will neutralize incoming paths

Q

Brambell Receptor

A

FcRB which transports IgG from EC space through epithelium and into capillary/tissues or across placental barrier

Q

Fcepsilon Rs

A

On mast cells/basophils, but VERY high affinity for IgE
So these cells “pre-arm” themselves with a bunch of different IgEs
Still require cross linking for activation

Q

3 Locations/Actions of Mast Cells

A

GI - expulsion, peristalsis
Respiratory - expulsion
Blood vessels - increase flow/permeability for inflammation

Q

Mast Cells Granule 2 Contents and Effects

A

Histamine for permeability, parasite toxicity, and smooth muscle contraction, and TNFalpha for inflammation

Q

Mast Cell Synthesized/Secreted 4 Contents & effects

A

Cytokines like TNFalpha and IL-4 - stimulate Th2 activity for IgE class switch
Chemokines
Lipid mediator like leukotrines to cause the permeability/mucous secretion/smooth muscle contraction again

Q

Mast Cell Amplification of IgE

A

Activated mast cells produce CD40L and IL-4 which both interact with B cells to activate and IL-4 preferentially inducing IgE (and IgG)

Q

Eosinophils

A

Have granular (major basic proteins) and synthesized contents which stimulate mast cell degranulation and are toxic to parasites, but you as well so they need to be controlled.
