SMALL SUBUNIT OF A RIBOSOME BINDS WITH MRNA AT THE START CODON
TRNA MOLECULE WITH THE ANTI CODON COMPLEMENTART TO THE START CODON ATTACHES HELD BY HYDROGEN BONDS BETWEEN MRNA AND TRNA
NOW A SECOND TRNA MOLCEULE MOVES IN ANTICODON OF TRNA IS COMPLENTARY TO THE COODN OF MRNA .
THE PEPTIDE BOND IS FORMED BETWEEN AMINO ACIDS
AUG GCG GGA CUC UGC UAG- The anticodon on the TRNA of amino acid methionine
UAC CGC CCU GAG AAG AUC- The codon on the Mrna complementary to methionine
transcription
DNA helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds between the two strands
This allows the RNA nucleotides to move in place and form hydrogen bonds with the bases on the exposed nucleotides on one of the DNA strands
At this point, the enzyme RNA polymerase joins the RNA nucleotides by forming phosphodiester bonds.
The enzymes continue making their way along the DNA until they reach the end of the gene.
We have now produced a strand of messenger RNA (thymine has been replaced by uracil)
