Q

During several of the mutation in which occurs from MRNA to the creation of a polypeptide may have several different effects upon the human. Which would you expect to have more of a severe effect?

Less severe effect?

What type of mutation is that
A. Transition
B. Transversion

A

A. Transition is the conversion of a purine to a purine. or a pyrimidine to a pyrimidine therefore would expect to have less of an effect.

While more severe would be seen in a tranversion, where the mutation occurs from a pyrimidine to a purine or vice versa.

Base Subsitution (Point Mutation) is further subdivided into 3 categories.
A. Silent - Amino acid Doesn't change
B. Missense- The Amino acid Does change
C. Nonsense- Stop Codon is added and the sequence comes to a halt

Q

Which Mutation doesn’t change the open reading frame?

A. Missense Point
B. Silent Point
C. Nonsense Point
D. Deletion of of 12 nucleotides
A. Deletion of one 2 or 4 nucleotide
A

D. the deletion of 12 nucleotide will not efffect the open reading frame as a set of codon will be deleted but not the entire sequence will not be shifted as a result.

Q

Within the tRNA molecule the amino acids adhere to th acceptor stem. if Attempting to target and halt eukaryotic cells cancer cells you would most likely change which nucleotide.

A. Adenine
B. Adenosine
C. AMP
D.ATP

A

A. Adenine. this is where the the amino acid attaches on the acceptor stem of the tRNA

Q

which of the following has the subunits is responsible for the catalytic Peptidyl Transferase activity in which is responsible for the formation of the peptide bond?

A. 28s of the 60s
B. 23s of the 80s
c. 40s of the 80s
d. 23s of the 60s

A

A. 28s of the 60s subunit this is primarily within the large subunits in whcuih the peptide bond is transferred from amino acid to another forming the bond. This activity is known as catalytic peptide transferase
