Compensates the client for a negligent act or omission by the professional if compensation is awarded in civil court

What do employment contracts contain?

How long must employers stick to an employment contract?

What does a written statement of employment particulars contain?
The main conditions of employment
The business’ name
The employees name, job title, description of work and start date
How much/how often an employee will get paid
Hours of work
Holiday entitlement
Where they will be working
How much holiday are employees entitled to?
5.6 weeks paid holiday per year
This works out to 28 days paid annual leave for 5 day week workers (5 x 5.6)
What is the limit of statutory leave?
Limited to 28 days, doesnt go up if work 6 day week
But employers can choose to offer more
What do not have to be given as paid leave?
Bank holidays
What are the maximum weekly working hours?
No more that 48 hours a week (averaged over 17 weeks)
You can opt out of this however but it is complicated
What doesnt count as work?
Time spent on call at home
Lunch breaks
Travelling outside normal working hours
Unpaid overtime youve volunteered for
Paid/unpaid holiday
Travel too and from work
What does opting out of work have to be?
Voluntary and in writing
Can be asked by employer but cant be sacked or treated unfairly for refusing
Can be cancelled whenever
