What is inductive analysis?
Bottom up - from the data to the theory
Useful for unstructured interviews
Identify themes/ patterns, generate theory
What is deductive analysis?
Top down - from the theory to the data
Useful for structured/semi-structured interviews
Know what theory you want to find out/prove (priori theme)
What is a priori theme?
Theory with no evidence yet
What is discourse analysis?
Data and theory in parallel
Useful for texts, documents and oral histories
