an animal whose DNA has been altered and replaced by the addition of a gene that’s not normally found in that species

A
a mix of transgenic and pharming develops animals to produce proteins of medical and or commercial value

sheep- milk contains human blood clotting factors
goat- contains treatment for cystic fibrosis
cattle- lacks the prion protein responsible for BSE (mads cow disease)
pig- lack the genes that lead to organs being rejected during transplantation
