what is overo lethal white syndrome (OLWS)?
A
-affects American paint horses
- causes lack of pigmentation in hair and skin and severe intestinal tract abnormalities
- found on endothelin- B receptor
- inherited as autosomal recessive trait
- genetic tests identify OLWs - it detects homozygous affected horses - heterozygous carriers carries as well as non affected horses
